well I've just finished my first semester as a History + Archaeology major at uni, which has been a horrific and wonderful and exhausting experience and now I'm back in my hometown staying with the family for five weeks over the break. It's quiet and freezing and I have absolutely nothing to do and I really want to get back into the dA community which I realise I have kind of been. Almost completely silent in. But hey I had old pottery to get teary over and stuff. Coming of age experiences to be had. Essays to write. Etc.
So yeah purged my inbox with fire, will attempt to keep up at least for the next few weeks, can make no promises for after school starts again, how are you all doing, let me know what's been going on, please send me links to things of yours or other people's that I should read because I am undernourished, literature-wise.

I know I haven't been here much and tbh I don't know if that is going to change in the near future? I still come on here to check my inbox so if you're writing new stuff I'm probably reading it but I don't have a heap of time on my hands to do the group thing or the writing thing or the leaving comments thing.

so there is a scratch right across my wrist and it has scabbed and it is reminding me of 2009 and it is reminding me of 2010. But I got this scratch from working at the farm, an errant thorn from the raspberry vines scraping across tender skin. I got it from picking fruit for others to eat. I got it from being part of the chain of growth and food and I got it from getting my hands dirty with the earth and with juice and with sunburn. I got it from enduring and waking up early and earning money and keeping going even when my legs hurt. I got it from finishing my shift. I got it from raspberry

I lay under a Moreton Bay fig by a river that knew me at eight, and then eighteen. Occupied by black swans and leopard-spotted jellyfish as vicious as each other. All its silt between my toes, all its dark brown sway splitting apart the sun. An exam encroaching – I smoked myself pretentiously sick in a thick and golden heat.
I looked up through the leaves and stubbed out my cigarette and thought that I was definitely owed some kind of statement.

Yeah so the really cool people at Pankhearst showcased one of my poems and you should go have a look and have a look at Pankhearst and everything they do. Lots of great writing there. I think, minus the poem I got published in the state newspaper when I was 12 (it was about a windmill), this is my first publication. So I uh. That's a thing. That's a thing! This is making me want to stretch my limbs out a bit and find other places to submit my work. Actually do something with this writing malarkey. Maybe.
